Mineral concrete for volume and creativity

At ARTEMPO, we do our utmost to find new, original, and sustainable materials that meet our creative needs. Our customers’ demand for high-volume parts is growing. While 3D printing makes this possible, we also needed to find other techniques to diversify our offer. And that’s exactly what we’ve done with ecological mineral concrete! Concrete is an exciting material to work with because it requires a very sophisticated manufacturing process. To make a volume piece, we first need to design a mould for the award. This mould can be simple, for example made of wood or metal (for classic shapes like rectangular totems), or 3D printed for overly complex shapes (like this staircase shaped project we designed a few months ago). Concrete is also an incredibly good friend of wood, and the combination of the two creates original and highly aesthetic pieces. Working with concrete awards is a matter of many skills, a combination of different techniques, a meeting of different crafts.

Vegetable awards

It’s hard not to associate the idea of plants, the very essence of nature, with the concept of an eco-responsible award. Associating life with an object that stands the test of time is a challenge that we at ARTEMPO have taken up. We were inspired by the growing trend for plant walls in companies and redesigned them in the form of awards. It is now possible to create awards with stabilised plants, which have the added advantage of being maintenance free. Vegetable awards celebrate success and talent while honouring nature and the living world. Their design and creativity make them an ideal addition to any working environment, as they can be combined with wood or metal to create a genuine decorative object. A vegetable award creates a special bond with its recipient and tells a story that we want to keep alive for as long as possible!

Slate

At ARTEMPO we’ve been working with slate for decades. This material plays a significant role in French craftsmanship and requires a great deal of mindfulness. Dark and deep, slate gives our awards a mysterious appearance that both intrigues and fascinates! Like concrete, slate is first and foremost a building material and its use in awards is thrilling. It’s a natural, sustainable, environmentally friendly material and a pioneer at ARTEMPO! Just as interesting, our slate awards can be made from slate scraps found on building sites. In this way we give waste a second life and extend the life of the material. As mentioned above, slate is a dark material. So, we work with it by integrating other elements that bring light and colour, in particular glass tesserae. These are small pieces of coloured glass that we assemble to form mosaic-like patterns that we incorporate into the award.
